Sigma Glass

I eventually ended up selling the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. I didn’t find it to be as sharp as I expected. I realized Nikon glass cost more but I rather save a bit more money and invest on glass that I would be more satisfied with.
Sigma SD14 iso800 SPP 3.5

"Sure you can take photos at ISO 800 or ISO 1600 only to delete them later." – Terry Eldred
Sigma is releasing a Sigma Photo Pro 4.0 soon with a new noise removal tool. I wanted a few images to test so I cranked things up from my usual iso50.
This image is processed with SPP 3.5 and then given a round of wavelet denoise in Gimp and some local contrast enhancement. This is far better than I expected and quite a bit brighter than I remember it being. The sun had nearly set when this was taken.
Looking forward to SPP 4.0 to see how it compares.

Sigma test: Gull in flight

The Sigma performs well at shorter focal lengths (this was taken at 200mm), and the OS panning mode makes it a lot easier to track birds in flight. I imagine it would be ideal for photographing Fulmars as they glide along the cliff-tops.

The multi-layer lens coating and lens design reduce flare and ghosting, which is a common problem with digital cameras, and it also creates an optimum color balance through the entire zoom range. The minimum focusing distance is 59 inches at all zoom settings. The lens features a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200 millimeters and 300 millimeters with a maximum close-up magnification. Without changing the distance between camera and subject, you can change the shooting magnification.

Sigma 10-20 ROCKS!!!!

Bought the Sigma 10-20 mm. On the left is the minimum angle i have now on my Nikon 16-85 VR simulated with the Sigma. 24mm full frame equivalent is not bad.
On the right is the 10mm setting on the Sigma, comparable to 15mm. Whoooooo hooooo, this kicks ass!!!
